Audiovisual
Launched in 2021, Symphonies of the Serra is an educational project aimed at primary school students, emphasizing the significance of sound as a fundamental descriptor of the Serra de Tramuntana landscape. This initiative, developed in collaboration with environmental and educational experts, provides schools with tools to help students identify and appreciate the natural and cultural elements that make the Serra a unique and vibrant environment, all through the medium of sound.
The Serra de Tramuntana, with its rich natural and cultural heritage, faces the challenge of ensuring that younger generations understand and value its significance. Traditional educational tools often fall short in fostering a deep connection with the land. There is a pressing need for innovative methods that engage students in a way that resonates with their experiences and senses, particularly through the often-overlooked medium of sound.
The Solution
Symphonies of the Serra addresses this need by offering a robust environmental education program that integrates seamlessly into school curricula. The project includes a unit of eight activities, divided into two modules, an interactive sound map that immerses students in the sounds of the Serra, and a comprehensive teacher’s guide.
These resources are designed to be user-friendly for educators, enabling them to independently facilitate the program in their classrooms. Additionally, six interactive games are available on the Tramuntana XXI website to further engage students and reinforce learning.
